Pruning of Clematis
For pruning purposes, clematis may be divided into three groups:

Group A: Cut plant back as much as desired as soon as possible after flowering, but no later than the end of July. Plants in this group flower from buds on wood produced during the previous season.

Group B: In February-March, cut out dead and weak growth. Cut remaining stems back to the first pair of large, fat green buds.

Group C: In February-March, cut all growth back to three feet or less. Plants in this group produce all of their blooms on the current season’s growth.

Planting Tip
When planting trees and shrubs we recommend incorporating planting mix.
